For the control of gate panels (plate gates or lifting gates), permanently installed winches/hoists can be used. In hydroelectric power plants with a large reservoir, multiple lifting equipment with high load capacities are typically used.

The regulation of water flow is reliably ensured by the cranes or the hoists/winches through the lifting and lowering of the gates.
