Süddeutsche Waggon Fabrik was founded.

Production start for railway coaches.

1926

Company renamed Süddeutsche Waggon- und Förderanlagen.

Production start for rope winches to handle railway vehicles. Market entry in the crane and hoist industry.

1931

Takeover of Schüle, a specialist for hoist technologies based in Feldkirchen, Germany.

Market expansion in the field of electric hoists and hoist technologies. Stronger focus on the market for crane and hoist technologies.

1953

Company renamed Süddeutsche Winden- und Förderanlagenfabrik von Bechtolsheim & Stein KG.

Rebuilding and growth in the aftermath of WWII. Sole focus on industrial cranes and hoists. SWF positioned as a specialist in the crane industry.

1973

Integration of SWF, as a specialist for industrial cranes and hoists, in the MAN Group.

Development and manufacturing of hoists and industrial cranes under the MAN brand from the early 1970’s to the late 1990’s.

1986

Merger with MAN Wolffkran.

Company renamed MAN GHH Krantechnik GmbH.

1990

Merger of MAN GHH Krantechnik GmbH, Mehne and MAN Lagersystem-Technik under the new name MAN GHH Logistics GmbH.

1997

Takeover by KCI Plc, the leader on the international crane market. SWF Krantechnik GmbH operates as an independent company on the global market for crane and hoists.

SWF Krantechnik has served as a technological pioneer and has continually launched innovative new products and developments in the market since the end of the 1990’s.

2001

Headquarters relocated to Mannheim, Germany.

Continual expansion as the market leader with annual revenue growth.

2010

Founding of SWF Hoist (Shanghai) Company Ltd. in Shanghai, China.

2012

Renaming of SWF Hoist (Shanghai) Company Ltd. to SWF Krantechnik Co. Ltd.
