ATHLO chain EX
(Zone 2)
ATHLO chain EX has been designed for use in explosive environments and complies with the latest safety regulations and is certified both ATEX and IECEx for Zone 2. With a lifting capacity of up to 2,500 kg and an extensive range of configurations, the chain hoist can be perfectly tailored to specific requirements.
Even in the standard version, the load can be moved steplessly and smoothly thanks to the frequency inverter. The wide operating temperature range enables the safe use of ATHLO chain EX in various industries for numerous applications.
Additional models for further load ranges, equipment options, and EX zones will follow.

Electric Chain Hoist
Types

Applications
Potentially explosive areas for gases and dusts
“EX zones” are defined based on the type, duration, and frequency of the occurrence of
explosive atmospheres. These determine the protective measures to be taken.
EX zone 2, for example, is a potentially explosive area in which a hazardous, explosive
atmosphere does not normally occur or only occurs for a short time during normal
operation. The substances are gases, vapours or mists that can form an explosive mixture
when combined with air.
Zone | Probability of an explosive atmosphere | |
Gases | Dusts | |
0 | 20 | Very high - explosive atmosphere present continuously or very frequently |
1 | 21 | High - explosive atmosphere occasionally present |
2 | 22 | Low - explosive atmosphere rarely present |
